Description

Come test your gear and endurance! Join us for a winter day hike along the Lake Michigan shoreline. We have hosted this hike for a few years now and it's always a hit! We will be starting this hike in the Muskegon State Park at the North blockhouse parking lot on Scenic drive, Saturday January 30 at 10am. Come test your gear and endurance! This hike is a 5 mile round trip with a lot of steep elevation changes. Trail conditions in winter vary from loose sand and deep snow to glare ice. Be prepared with sturdy winter boots and a form of traction for icy conditions. The weather on the lakeshore this time of year almost always includes very strong winds coming off of the lake, we will be exposed to these winds throughout the hike. Due to the terrain, weather, and spectacular views along the trail, we generally take most of the day, 5-6 hrs, to complete the trek. For anyone on the fence or not wishing to complete the entire trek, there will be jump off points at the 25% and 75% marks. There may be a chance to jump off at the 50% mark if the road is still passable. Because this event will be occurring during the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask that everyone in attendance follow CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you are sick, or have been exposed to COVID-19, please stay home. Please practice proper social distancing during the event.
