Man Arrested In Campbell After 2-Hour Standoff With Police

CAMPBELL, CA — Police in Campbell on Wednesday arrested a man in connection with several crimes following a domestic disturbance and an ensuing two-hour standoff with officers. Timothy Johnson, 38, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, shooting into an inhabited dwelling and being under the influence of a controlled substance while in possession of a loaded firearm, according to the Campbell Police Department. On Wednesday at 9:02 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired and a man yelling and waving a firearm outside a residence on Wren Way. Responding officers located Johnson and saw him pointing what they believed to be a handgun toward a residence as they heard a shot being fired. Police ordered a shelter-in-place for the residents in the area, and multiple agencies responded to the scene. Following a two-hour standoff with Johnson and attempted negotiations, officers, with the support of armored vehicles, approached Johnson and were able to take him into custody without further incident. A 9 mm gun and several spent casings were located at the scene by investigators.
