VALLEJO, CA — A Vallejo woman pleaded no contest to identity theft in the November 2019 theft of a state credit card and was sentenced to one year's probation, state officials said Wednesday. Michelle Marie Rivas, 25, stole a state-issued Visa gas card from a California Department of Insurance vehicle in 2019 and tried unsuccessfully to use it at Benicia, Vallejo and American Canyon gas stations, the department said. Rivas was arrested in Marin County on unrelated charges several months later. A detective from the department identified her as the gas card theft suspect by matching her tattoos with those of a person caught on surveillance video at the Benicia gas station. Fairfield police arrested Rivas Oct. 28 and she was booked into Solano County Jail.
