What's going on in Ukraine?

The mess we started in Eastern Europe has come full circle again. The reasons Russia is causing trouble now, is because every decade or so get tired of our government causing trouble in their back yard. We started all this in 1958. In 1957 President Eisenhower told France he wants to deploy our nuclear weapons at a military base there. France said NO, if the USA puts nuclear weapons anywhere in Western Europe, the Soviets will counter! In 1958 Eisenhower paid Turkey a lot of money in subsidies to let us put 13 nuclear tipped Jupiter Missiles there 20 miles from the USSR border. The Soviets did not like that, but did not retaliate with a buildup. In early 1962 our C eye A lied to President Kennedy that the Soviets were building up their nuclear arms, and Kennedy added another dozen Jupiter Nuclear Missiles in Turkey. The Soviets did not know what we were up to, and did not like it. Also at the time this information was not covered in our local newspapers or TV news. To counter the additional USA nuclear weapons in Turkey, the Soviets said ok, enough is enough, and started delivering the equipment to install nuclear missiles in Cuba. Thus the "Cuban Missile Crisis!" That was a tense couple of months, but our news reported the Soviets agreed to remove everything. What our news did not say was that the deal also included the USA would remove all our Jupiter Missiles from Turkey. So that means every tax dollar our grandparents spent to put nuclear missiles in Turkey was completely wasted! You people should look up how much money our government gives other countries in financial aid, especially military. We started giving Ukraine military aid years ago, and Russia did not like it. The only reason for our country to give any Eastern European country military aid is to piss off Russia. That is it. I realize most of you are 1 extreme or the other. I believe we should stop giving any country military aid and cut back on our bloated military spending. Some of you interpret that as I want our military gutted, and to make our country weak. You are wrong. We could cut our military spending by 50%, and still spend more money than China, Russia and North Korea do combined. We all know about the 2019 phone call Trump had with Ukraine concerning $400,000,000.00 in military aid. Has it occurred to any of you if we would stop spending so much money in other countries, just to piss off Putin, we could still trade with and visit those countries, freely? I know a lot of you look at it like the hundreds of millions we give Ukraine and dozens of other countries every year is not much money for a country as rich as we used to be. I look at it like with a $29 Trillion National Debt that $400 million would pay the interest on it for a day. Either way, the whole mess in Ukraine now has our fingerprints all over it.
