Central Park Kicking Off Its Virtual Jazz Performances

MANHATTAN, NY — The coronavirus pandemic still has live jazz music on hold in New York City, but the Central Park Conservancy is set to give listeners a different summer tunes option. The Central Park Conservancy is partnering with the charity Jazzmobile to present "Great Jazz on the Great Hill," a collection of pre-recorded live jazz performances in Central Park that you can stream online. The stream will be available at Central Park's website starting at 7 p.m. Saturday and will remain available to stream until Sept. 30. Here are the performers part of the show: Alyson Williams: A prominent and award-winning vocalist and actress.Jeremey Pelt: An internationally acclaimed trumpeter and bandleader.The George Gee Swing Band: The band is known around the world for its fast-paced swing tunes.Jazzmobile is the first U.S. non-profit arts and cultural organization created specifically for jazz, according to its website. "Whether on the street, in a park or at a major concert hall here or abroad, Jazzmobile works in partnership with like-minded organizations to present high-quality jazz performances that enrich the culture and imbue new life into the surrounding area," reads the "about" page on Jazzmobile's website. The stream for the various jazz performances is free of charge.
