Description
It is with a heavy heart that we have to look to re-home our 16m male Australian Shepherd pup.
Finn has been with us since 8wks old, he is energetic, rambunctious and full of personality, positive-reinforcement trained and agility proficient - a very sweet, intelligent dog.
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer the kind of home he requires, he is a good pet but essentially a work dog and needs a job to do, he is too smart and energetic to not be working - ideally a farm or agility showing would suit him.
He does have food based territorial /guarding issues, we have worked on these and he is much better at giving up toys and food to us, however, if around other dogs and food is involved he can be temperamental - he has nipped a few times and bitten once under these circumstances; another major reason we need to re-home him.
His ideal home is with a single or couple or family with older kids, with a large, fenced property to run, and the experience and patience needed to work with a highly reactive dog. Thus far, he has been good around young kids but given the guarding issues, I would not want him to be challenged in these circumstances.
He is fine off-leash at a dog park and is well socialized with people and dogs, he loves to wrestle with equally matched dogs and knows his boundaries with older dogs. Cats, rabbits and deer are exciting to him but more so in a look-dont-touch way. Leash walks can be challenging with his inquisitive nature.
He is fixed and has all shots and vax up to date. Has crate, toys, bed etc. Small re-home fee requested to ensure a good home.
