UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) on the Upper West Side is reopening to visitors on Thursday, and a set of new protocols are in place to make sure everyone stays as healthy as possible. The museum is located at 2 Columbus Circle, near West 58th Street. The popular art museum will have two main exhibitions on view: Brian Clarke: The Art of Light, which is a new display of stained glass pieces that "radically stretch the limit of what the medium can do and express."45 Stories in Jewelry: 1947 to Now, which is a new interpretation of museum's vast collection of studio and contemporary art jewelry. The Museum of Arts and Design will reopen with a variety of new protocols to best help in stopping the spread of coronavirus, including limiting the number of visitors visitors each day to 25 percent of capacity, using timed ticketing, mandating all staff members and visitors over the age of two wear face masks, capping the number of people in the elevators at two, and enforcing social distancing throughout the galleries. As part of the welcoming back process, the Upper West Side museum is discounting the price of tickets through Sept. 30. You can buy a ticket at the Museum of Arts and Design's website. The Museum of Arts and Design is reopening after Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave museums in New York City the green light in the end of August. Museums throughout the city were previously closed for more than five months due to to coronavirus pandemic.
