Construction Foreman Job Summary A foreman is responsible for ensuring that everything goes smoothly at a construction site. They are responsible for being the point of contact between the construction workers and supervisors. A few of the main duties of a foreman are coordinating tasks for the day, creating schedules for workers, overseeing quality of the site, and managing the budget. Duties & Responsibilities: - Report project progress to superiors, site engineers and other officials - Develop a work schedule for workers and making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery and personnel - Supervise all construction workers - Be the liaison between construction workers and supervisors - Ensure that a project is adequately staffed. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, managing and mentoring employees and contractors - Assign tasks to construction workers - Developing and managing project budgets and quality standards for all sites - Ensure that the project is staying on or under budget for Workers, supplies or tools - Review laws and regulations to maintain a safe work environment. Qualifications: One of the most important skills that a foreman will have is attention to detail. Another skill is organization as the foreman will have to be able to run a construction site effectively. - High School Diploma or GED required - Experience in the construction industry - Ability to organize a work schedule - Ability to solve disputes between workers - Ability to lift up to 50 pounds - Excellent communication skills - Ability to negotiate - Deep knowledge of the construction industry and processes - Ability to read construction drawings and blueprints - Perform quality checks on construction equipment - Must be able to travel in or out of state on occasion - Mechanical background preferable - small engine capability
