UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Congressman Jerry Nadler won reelection Tuesday night against Republican Cathy Bernstein and Libertarian Michael Madrid to represent the 1oth Congressional District. With 100 percent of the vote in, Nadler won with 68.8 percent of the vote, ahead of Bernstein at 30 percent and Madrid at 1.2 percent, according to NY1. New York will not count absentee ballots until next week. Nadler has held the congressional seat since 1992, and was considered the heavy favorite going into the race. The 10th Congressional District includes Morningside Heights, the Upper West Side, Midtown Manhattan, Greenwich Village, the Financial District and Borough Park in Brooklyn. The longtime congress member also dominated the two other candidates in the amount of money raised and spent in the lead up to the 2020 Election. Using the latest publicly available data from the Federal Election Commission, Patch calculated how much each candidate raised and spent in the time period before the most recent election. Totals are from 2019 and 2020 and have been rounded to the closest whole number.
