Gigging groove duo

Description

Hey AVL music fam, We are a gigging (1-2 shows per month for now as we are still holding down day jobs, both have little kids at home, and are in our early 40's) groove duo (we play instrumental jazz/funk/blues/groove/r&b/motown/soul in addition to some vocally-driven tunes from The Grateful Dead/JGB, Bob Dylan, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, The Beatles, etc.) that is looking for a 3rd musician for an upcoming gig in April. If we can find the right person, we'd be looking at booking shows together moving forward into spring and summer months. Would love to find someone who is (a) reliable, (b) willing/able to commit to 2 rehearsals per month, usually Thursday nights 8-11, and (c) interested in bringing an improvisatory flair to the mix. If you, too, are a dad (or mom!) in need of a weekly escape from your demon spawn at home, all the better! Above all else, we want to find someone who is excited to play. We both have some college/formal training, but this project is more about communicating, a good groove, and playing tunes that folks like to hear/make people (including us!) happy as opposed to cuttin' heads and melting faces. More Maceo Parker than Ornette Coleman's Song X (no offense to Ornette intended), if you dig? We've gigged with many horn players and while a melodic instrument like an alto/bari sax is the easiest fit, we're totally open to other instruments (keyboard, B3, steel guitar, fiddle, mandolin, whatever). If you are into groove, and cats like Charlie Hunter, Medeski, Jerry Garcia, etc. please reach out! We have a dedicated practice space. Happy to send more information (videos, audio, etc.) to interested parties that appear to fit the bill. Thanks for reading!
