UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Twelve people were sent to the hospital Thursday morning after a fire broke out in a building on the Upper West Side, fire officials said.
The fire began around 7 a.m. on the third floor of a landmarked apartment building at 98 Riverside Drive, according to an FDNY spokesperson. By 10 a.m., firefighters had the flames under control.
All 12 of the people injured in the blaze, seven people within the building, and five firefighters, were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the spokesperson said.
The building was built in 1929, and has 16 stories with 128 apartments, according to a listing for the address.
