Open Restaurant Streets Change On The UWS: What To Know

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Open Streets program for restaurants on the Upper West Side has been a hit over the summer and fall, but there's a slight change taking place going into the winter. The stretch of blocks participating in the Open Streets: Restaurants program in the neighborhood will shrink from its original 14-blocks to West 111th Street and Amsterdam Avenue to West 106th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. The blocked-off area previously went from West 111th to West 97th Streets on Amsterdam. The Open Streets on the Upper West Side will now take place on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The streets are blocked off to vehicle traffic to allow restaurants to set up more outdoor dining space and serve more customers. The Columbus-Amsterdam BID told the West Side Rag that the following eight restaurants would participate in the shortened Open Streets program for restaurants.
