An evening of fellowship and testimony from Time Magazine's 2014 Person of the Year, missionary, and ACU alumnus Dr. Kent Brantly.
A Slice of Summit, hosted by the Lytle Center for Faith and Leadership, features Leadership Summit 2022's distinguished guest speakers. The March 1st evening event highlights the life and work of Dr. Kent Brantly who will be joining us at the Front Porch Coffee Shop from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Kent Brantly received his Medical Degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship in Family Medicine and Maternal-Child Health at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Biblical Text from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas.
While serving as a medical missionary with Samaritan’s Purse in Liberia in 2014, Kent joined the fight against the Ebola outbreak there. In July 2014 he was diagnosed with Ebola Virus Disease. He was the first person to be treated for Ebola in the United States when he was evacuated to Emory University Hospital.
After spending more than a year working for Samaritan’s Purse as Medical Missions Advisor, doing advocacy work and public speaking, Kent and his wife Amber, along with their two children, settled in Fort Worth, where he worked as a family doctor, caring for patients and training Family Medicine residents at JPS.
The Brantlys continue to pursue God’s calling to have compassion on those in need. In 2019 they joined Christian Health Service Corps and moved to Zambia to work at Mukinge Mission Hospital.
