Share quality time and celebrate your story with a creative workshop and one-of-a-kind selfie environment for photo keepsakes or gifts. WHAT IS PINK ROSES, WILD HEARTS — The Workshop & Selfie Experience? Join us for a workshop to make a “Shaggy Heart” wall hanging — a great Valentine’s Day gift or decoration for oneself! This workshop takes place in the same space as our made-for-Valentine’s-Day immersive art installation and selfie environment, Pink Roses, Wild Hearts. Workshop participants can enjoy full access to the installation for snapping as many selfies and photos as they’d like. The art installation is designed by Linda Mullen, artist and owner of Grace & Diggs. Linda and her team have used recycled materials to create a world of flowers and other botanicals that form a walk-through environment symbolizing the spectrum of romantic love. The “Shaggy Heart” workshop uses techniques used by Grace & Diggs in the making of the art installation and is suitable for all ages. Strips of fabric are wrapped and tied around a cardboard heart to create a piece of textile art that symbolizes the beauty in imperfect and “shaggy” love. COVID MANDATES As per local requirements, we are requiring that all visitors to Pink Roses, Wild Hearts follow the procedures listed below. We provide this information so you can make the decision to purchase tickets with this in mind. Visitors without masks or Proof of Vaccination will be turned away and no refunds will be given (we will, however, have masks available if you forget them). MASKS: All visitors must wear masks upon entry to Old Town Hall. Once in the enclosed area of the exhibit, masks can be taken off to take pictures. Upon exiting, masks must be put on again. Masks must be worn during workshops. PROOF OF VACCINATION: All visitors must show proof of vaccination to enter Old Town Hall. Currently, this means you must show your vaccination card or a photo of it. THE SELFIE & PHOTO INSTALLATION The art installation features three distinct, immersive settings for selfies, content-creation, and other photos: The first setting, “Pink Roses,” is an environment of red and pink botanicals that celebrates the sweetness of traditional Valentine’s Day. The second setting, “Wild Hearts,” acknowledges a complex side of love. Crafted with darker, more untamed elements, this space represents romantic situations that rarely get represented on greeting cards. Finally, “The In-Between,” is a tangled and vine-like environment that symbolizes the connection between sweet and dark, traditional and wild. Sweet things may grow from dark places and untamed elements keep sweetness from becoming dull. THE "SHAGGY HEART" WORKSHOP This wall hanging embraces that “imperfect” and “shaggy” are often what make romance personal and lovely. Made out of 100% recycled material, the technique used is aligned with the sustainable philosophy and artistic style embraced by Grace & Diggs. All materials and guidance are provided. This workshop is appropriate for all ages. No hot glue or dangerous tools will be used. The technique involves wrapping and tying knots in a process where messy and imperfect adds to the beauty of the final product. This workshop is open to individuals, couples, or groups of up to 8 people. Workshops are limited to 8 people to ensure each individual or group receives dedicated time to independently explore the installation for selfies and photos and to maintain social distancing during the workshop.
