Seeds are a sign of spring's imminent arrival! One of our first gardening tasks of the year is to start seeds. In our area, the gardening season starts long before it's time to plant. Seeds need to be started several weeks before planting to maximize growing season potential. Starting seeds indoors allows for earlier harvests, more cost-effective plants, and greater variety unavailable at your local garden center. We will go (more like grow!) through the stages of starting seeds. From germination, to seedlings, all the way up until it's time to plant. For each stage we'll discuss all the materials necessary for growth, including why seeds need specialty soil. Finally we will discuss issues you may encounter. Take notes every year to become a seed-starting superstar!
