A Case for the Imaginative Intellect: A Renewed Mode of Rationality in Service to Theology and Evangelization in the Post-Modern World
The Very Reverend Steven P. Beseau was ordained in 1995 as a priest of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. Father Beseau holds a Master of Divinity and Bachelor of Sacred Theology from the University of Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, Illinois, and a Licentiate of Sacred Theology and Doctor of Sacred Theology (both summa cum laude) from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome, Italy.
In the early years of his priesthood, Father Beseau was a parish pastor and high school chaplain in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. In 2006 he was appointed Director of the Saint Lawrence Catholic Campus Center at the University of Kansas and served there for ten years. In his third year in that role, he founded and directed the Saint Lawrence Institute for Faith and Culture. In 2016, Father Beseau joined the faculty of The Athenaeum of Ohio in Cincinnati as Assistant Professor of Moral Theology.
In March 2019, official correspondence from The Most Reverend Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States of America, by means of a decree from Cardinal Stella, Prefect of the Vatican Congregation for Clergy in Rome, announced Father Beseau as 17th President/Rector of the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio. The announcement was made to the seminary community on March 19, 2019, the Solemnity of Saint Joseph; Father Beseau’s s appointment as PCJ rector began on July 1, 2019, and his formal installation was held on October 1, 2019.
