UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Can you hear Sarah Feinberg now? The new chief of the New York City Transit Authority is publicly shaming Verizon for being the worst clogger of a Manhattan bus lane, the New York Post reported. New cameras mounted to buses caught the phone company's vehicles parked in the M15 bus route, which runs from South Street up the east side of Manhattan to Harlem, 235 times between October 7 and February 14, the Post reported. Their drivers were given 106 citations and 129 warnings. In a letter written by Feingberg, who started her first day as interim chief on Monday replacing Andy Byford, she said, ""Verizon's numerous violations of bus lane restrictions are simply unacceptable," according the the Post. "The disregard of the City's bus lane restrictions adversely impacts City bus riders and the MTA's efforts to better serve them. We expect that Verizon will take prompt and meaningful steps to correct this situation, including instructing its drivers to comply with bus lane restrictions." She also warned that she intends to publicly shame the worst offenders on a monthly basis.
