WALLINGFORD, CT — Officer Carmelo Ticino recently retired after 35 years of service with the Wallingford Police Department, according to Police Chief John Ventura. Ventura said Ticino was hired on Feb. 15, 1987 and served in multiple capacities over the last three-and-a-half decades. "Some may know him from his time spent in the agency's patrol division or from his assignment in the Crime Prevention Office," Ventura wrote in a news release. "Others may know Officer Ticino from the time he spent in the Records Division as the Court Liaison Officer. For past and present Wallingford Officers, they may have been first introduced to Officer Ticino from the time he was the department's Training Officer responsible for overseeing the training requirements of the entire agency and getting our newly hired police recruits ready for the Police Academy. Over the past several years Officer Ticino was the IT Officer for the agency. "Through his hard work, the agency has been able to upgrade its technological capabilities allowing officers to have the proper tools and equipment to effectively do their jobs. On behalf of the Wallingford Police Department and the Wallingford Community, I would like to thank Officer Ticino for his dedicated service and wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."
