Press release from the Main Street Takoma: February 11, 2022 Soko Butcher is now open at 7306 Carroll Ave in Takoma Park. The shop is both a classic butcher and deli offering various cuts of meat, fermented foods, deli sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches. Soko is owned by classically-trained chef, Brad Feickert, formerly of Volt and Oz restaurants, and Chris Brown, owner of Takoma Beverage Co and Zinnia Restaurant. The name comes from the Swahili word for market which Chris Brown remembers fondly from his time in Tanzania with the Peace Corps. Customers will find house-made sausages, pastrami, bacon and bone broths along with Chef Feickert's spin on traditional deli sandwiches and a stocked meat case with a variety of cuts. All meat is sourced from local farms. Soft opening this week through Friday, February 11th with hours 9:00 am – 7:00 pm. Starting Saturday, February 12th, open daily from 7:30 am – 8:00 pm.
