COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Firefighters in Colorado Springs pulled trapped occupants out of a mangled car following a crash Friday. The impact sent the vehicle through a fence around 12:15 p.m. Friday near Highland Vista Drive and Peterson Road, the Colorado Springs Fire Department tweeted. The crash trapped several people inside the dark-colored sedan. "Multiple fire units on scene with several trapped parties," the fire department tweeted. "Please avoid the area." Police, medic and fire vehicles blocked traffic in the area. Around 12:30 p.m., the fire department said everyone inside was successfully removed from the vehicle by a heavy rescue team. Patients were taken to area hospitals for treatment. Further details weren't immediately released.
