Here are the top three stories in Charleston today: The Charleston Police Department is asking the community to help them identify a suspect in a theft investigation. The department has shared surveillance photos that show the thief. Details regarding the thefts have been withheld from the community but the department has asked anyone with information regarding the man in the photos to contact the Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch or to contact Crime Stoppers. (WCBD News 2)Charleston's Naval Information Warfare Center plays a critical role in the development of a drone program. The Department of Defense is looking to create a system that would deploy drones to maintain security at military installations. The new program would cut costs and would enable security forces to respond to threats faster and in a safer way. (WCBD News 2)The Charleston Animal Society rescued over two hundred animals from around South Carolina. The society works with other organizations to handle sudden increases in animal numbers that might arise due to natural disasters or sudden rescue efforts. Such efforts include a sudden influx of 166 dogs who were living in inhumane conditions and 44 cats who were turned over due to an unsafe situation.
