Liz Krueger soundly defeated her Republican challenger Michael Zumbluskas in Tuesday's general election, securing another term representing the 28th District in Albany. Krueger, a Democrat, has served in the State Senate since 2002, representing the Upper East Side and parts of Midtown, Murray Hill and Gramercy. With 100 percent of in-person voting precincts reporting as of midnight, Krueger led with 74.4 percent of the vote, with Zumbluskas trailing at 25.6 percent. Zumbluskas, a Republican, is also running on the Independence Party line. Zumbluskas has previously challenged Krueger in 2016 and 2014, and faced then-Assemblymember Micah Kellner in 2014, receiving about 25 percent of the vote each time.
