SALEM, NH — Police and fire and rescue teams were sent to Cluff Crossing Road at 11 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2022, for a report of a man who was out of control and punching holes in walls. He was taken to the Parkland Medical Center by Salem firefighters. A crash was reported at Town Fair Tire on South Broadway Street at 11:35 on Feb. 9. A trailer with a cable wire tipped over on Route 28 after hitting a snowbank while turning. Christopher Arthur, 37, of North Andover, Massachusetts, was arrested at 1:57 a.m. on Feb. 9 on driving after revocation or suspension and disobeying an officer charges as well as a misuse of plates violation. He was arrested after a motor vehicle stop on South Broadway Street. Police were sent to South Policy Street at Fairmont Road at 9:02 p.m. on Feb. 8 for an accident. A motor vehicle needed to be pulled out and when it was, there was no damage reported. A fatal overdose of a man in his 20s was reported at 6:16 p.m. on Feb. 8 on Union Street. Richard Merrill, 45, of Booth Street in Tewksbury, MA, was arrested on a bench warrant at 2:53 p.m. on Feb. 8. He was arrested after a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 93 north at Brookdale Road. Merrill was released on personal recognizance bail. Officers were sent to Salem District Court at 12:24 p.m. on Feb. 8 for a report of an unruly woman. She calmed down later and left the building. A car slid on ice and struck a tree at Brady Avenue and Sycamore Avenue at 11:01 p.m. on Feb. 7. The car was able to be pulled out of a ditch. Jason Nieves, 39, of Knox Street in Lawrence, MA, was arrested at 12:54 p.m. on Feb. 7 on possession of a controlled drug and deal-possess prescription drugs charges. He was arrested at M& N Borderline Discount on South Broadway Street and released on personal recognizance bail. A crash was reported at Rockingham Park Boulevard and Mall Road at 12:52 p.m. on Feb. 7. A driver at 11:44 a.m. on Feb. 7 reported a large piece of ice flying off a caravan with Massachusetts plates that smashed her windshield on I-93 south. She followed the vehicle and exchanged information. Police were sent to a suspicious vehicle call in the Target parking lot at 1:48 a.m. on Feb. 7. It was a woman sleeping in her car.
