Pittsburgh Bridge Collapse: Injured Couple To File Lawsuit

PITTSBURGH, PA — A married couple whose pickup truck fell into a ravine when the Fern Hollow Bridge over Frick Park collapsed has filed an intent to sue the city of Pittsburgh, PennDOT and the Port Authority of Allegheny County. Attorneys for Velva and Tyrone Perry announced the move Thursday and are expected to further detail the litigation at a news conference on Friday. It's the first lawsuit to be filed in connection with the span's collapse on Jan. 28. The Perrys were hospitalized with serious injuries but now are recovering at home. The Perrys, both 69, were among 10 people injured when the bridge tumbled into the park and severed a key artery between the city's Squirrel Hill and Regent Square neighborhoods.. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident, although a final report on the bridge's spectacular failure isn't expected to be released until sometime in 2023.
