UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man was slashed with a knife by an unknown assailant Monday morning on the Lexington Avenue–63rd Street subway platform, the second daytime attack there in less than one week, according to police.
Around 9:15 a.m. Monday, a 38-year-old man standing on the southbound Q platform when another man approached him and slashed him with a knife, injuring the victim's chest, right index finger and left wrist, police said.
The victim managed to grab the knife from the attacker, who fled up to the street, according to police.
The victim took the train down to a CityMD urgent care clinic on 14th Street near 5th Avenue. He was later taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where he was treated and released, according to the New York Post, which first reported on the attack.
Police have made no arrests and have not named a suspect.
Monday's incident came two days after another daytime assault at the same station — on Sunday, police arrested a 31-year-old man who is accused of shoving a woman to the ground on the subway platform Saturday and attempting to rape her before bystanders intervened.
