ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving burglary, exploitation, an abandoned car, threats to a landlord, chronic nuisances, DUI and drug possession. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Burglary Terrell Jones, 57, of Chicago, was arrested Feb. 1 on charges of burglary, identity theft and theft. According to a police report, Jones was found to have taken a woman's wallet at CVS pharmacy, 50 E. North Ave. in Villa Park, and used her credit cards at Mobil gas station in Elmhurst and Target in Villa Park. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Exploitation A man reports that a suspect has been draining his mother's finances since 1992. An investigation is pending. The crime was listed as financial exploitation of the elderly. Converter theft A catalytic converter was removed from a car in the City Hall parking lot at 209 N. York St. between noon and 10 p.m. Saturday. Abandoned car A person reported Monday that a car in bad shape was left abandoned in the 400 block of North Berteau for the past few days. An officer contacted the registered owner, who said she had a flat tire and was unable to fix it. The car was red-tagged under a city ordinance. Bike found A blue and green Huffy bicycle was placed into evidence Tuesday after being left at the library Dec. 20. Threats to landlord A landlord discussed rent with a tenant about 11 a.m. Tuesday. The renter, who lives in the 10 block of Fellows Court, then threatened management. Several moments later, the suspect entered the property manager's office and caused a disturbance. The suspect was told to leave the office and conduct any further business by phone. Chronic nuisance A chronic nuisance warning was issued to a property owner Wednesday in the 100 block of North York Street. Oaklawn Ave., told police that an intoxicated woman called to say her husband was going to blow up the business. The call was about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Through caller ID, the suspect was found to be in Rock Island. Rock Island police were contacted for a wellness check to ensure she was not a danger to herself or anyone else. The business did not wish to pursue the matter. Driving violations Obed Gomez Enciso, 18, of Chicago, was cited about 11 p.m. Monday at North and Indiana on charges of no valid driver's license, obstructing identification, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. According to a police report, he provided a false name and date of birth. He was released on bond. DUI Vanessa Lulling, 35, of Chicago, was arrested shortly before midnight Monday at Route 83 and Lake on charges of DUI, improper lane usage, transportation of open alcohol and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. According to a police report, Lulling ran her car off the road and her car went up in flames. She was released on bond. Leaving scene of crash Michael Palomar, 43, of Chicago, was cited about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at North and Larch on charges of leaving the scene of a property damage accident and improper lane usage. He was released on bond. Warrant Shantae D. Davis, 25, of Carol Stream, was arrested about 8 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles and West on a Broadview Police Department warrant and a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released to Broadview police. Drug possession Joseph Martinez, 28, of Fresno, California, was arrested shortly before midnight Wednesday at North and Indiana on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, DUI (drugs), possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a hypodermic needle, improper lane usage, failure to dim headlights and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
