MAPLE GROVE, MN — After declining steadily for the first five weeks of 2022, the number of Maple Grove schools on the weekly list of facilities with recent COVID-19 outbreaks started to climb again Thursday. The number of Maple Grove schools on the list peaked at 14 at the end of 2021, then dropped to 11 for the next two weeks. That total dropped to eight schools from Jan. 20 through Feb. 2. Maple Grove Native Makes Olympic Debut In US Hockey's Blowout Win Five schools in the city were included on last week's list, but eight were named on the most recent list published Thursday. Oak View Elementary, Rice Lake Elementary and Heritage Christian Academy were added Thursday, joining Fernbrook, Rush Creek and Weaver Lake elementary schools, Maple Grove Middle School and Maple Grove Senior High. Osseo Area Learning Center Named MN's Best Alternative School Seven of the eight Maple Grove schools on Thursday's list are in the Osseo Area Schools district. The COVID-19 data dashboard for Osseo Area Schools shows there have been 3,258 coronavirus cases among students since Sept. 7, including 135 new cases during the first week of February. The district has also reported 766 coronavirus cases among staff since Sept. 7, the dashboard shows. Fundraiser To Help Teen Who Survived Shooting At Richfield School Thursday's COVID-19 outbreak list included 107 Hennepin County schools, 44 more than last week. The total number of Minnesota schools on the outbreak list more than doubled over the past week, from 249 to 598.
