UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A 27-year-old man was killed last month after he crashed while driving along Second Avenue on the Upper East Side, police announced Friday.
The crash happened around 7:08 a.m. on Sept. 24, as the man drove south along Second avenue in a Chrysler 300 sedan with a 53-year-old man in the passenger's seat.
The driver was identified as Anthony David Lantz, 27, a Harlem resident.
As the car crossed East 74th Street, it collided with a parked, unoccupied Honda minivan, which caused the Chrysler to overturn, police said. Passersby pulled the passenger from the car, but Lantz was pinned inside the car.
Police found Lantz unconscious and unresponsive in the driver's seat. He was extricated by the FDNY and taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he died Sept. 30, police said.
The passenger, who suffered minor injuries, was hospitalized in stable condition.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing, police said.
