Stabbings At Greyhound Station Lead To Officer-Involved Shooting

ATLANTA, GA — Law enforcement officials are investigating after an officer shot a woman accused of stabbing two people late Thursday night outside the Greyhound station in downtown Atlanta. Around 10:30 p.m., police were called to the station at 232 Forsyth St. for a fight. A woman inside the bus station had stabbed two people, police said. An arriving officer encountered the woman as she emerged from the bus station with two knives and began to approach, according to police records. "The officer continued to give commands to that person to drop the knives," Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Timothy Peek told reporters. "The subject just would not do that. They continued to close the gap of distance and when they got too close at that point the officer discharged his weapon." The woman was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for her injuries, Peek said. "We never want to have to use force but when we have those situations from where we are placed in unfortunate situations, we do the best we can to resolve them," he said. The woman and two stabbing victims were all hospitalized in stable condition, police said. The case has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations to review the officer-involved shooting.
