SALARY: $14.00 - $16.00 Hourly POSITION PURPOSE: GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Operates a variety of motorized equipment and performs physical labor duties associated with the maintenance of a golf course. JOB FUNCTIONS / SCOPE OF AUTHORITY: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs turf maintenance for all areas of golf course, including mowing, irrigation, and fertilization; observes and reports any unusual turf conditions to supervisor; operates mowing equipment for fairways, roughs, and greens; fertilizes turf and applies pesticides as directed; operates maintenance equipment, such as utility vehicles, various mowers, trenchers, pullers, front-end loaders, and backhoes; repairs existing irrigation systems, including replacement of sprinkler heads and repairing broken lines. WORKING ENVIRONMENT / QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and standard practices of golf course maintenance; working knowledge of turf and golf course maintenance programs and irrigation systems; skill in exercising initiative, judgment, and decision making in identifying and solving maintenance problems; ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 75 pounds, moving fertilizer bags, sod rolls, and trailer ramps, and manual digging for irrigation system repairs; ability to operate a variety of golf course maintenance equipment and vehicles; ability to operate a variety of hand tools; ability to follow and apply oral, written, illustrated, or demonstrated instructions; ability to effectively convey information by ensuring that the information is received and understood; ability to promptly respond to customer needs; skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other City staff, and the general public. Must be Eighteen years of age with a valid drivers license.
