Rory is a 5 year old neutered Standard Poodle who was originally my Service Dog. He was retired at around 4 years old as he is no longer interested in working and would much prefer the pet life. Rory has never met a stranger and just enjoys being around people. He loves long walks/hikes but is also content to sleep on the couch all day. Rory currently competes in the sport Barn Hunt, where he uses his nose to find hidden rats in a barn type situation. He absolutely loves Barn Hunt and it would be amazing if his new family continued this activity he loves. I can recommend our wonderful local trainer that has worked with Rory many times. Rory absolutely loves children but would do better in a older children or no children household as he doesn’t always love sharing his food/bones. Rory is dog neutral but does prefer his space, so a home with lower energy or no dogs would be preferable. Rory is safe with cats but does like to bother them. He does better with dog friendly cats or no cats. He is completely house trained, crate trained and has basic obedience along with some service dog tasks. He has ALOT of food drive and will work for anything as long as it’s edible. He prefers staying at home but doesn’t get stressed or overwhelmed in public places. Rory must be in a crate when left alone, in true retriever fashion he loves food and will open cabinets, drawers and doors to find snacks. Locking garbage cans are 100% recommended. Rory also is a very vocal dog, he likes to announce himself to arriving people and likes to demand food/attention by barking. He will need a owner that will accept his barking but also not give in to his demands. I am asking a rehoming fee for Rory to ensure he ends up in a proper home. I would love for him to stay local so I can get updates on him but if the perfect family were out of state I would consider it. If Rory stays close to me I would be happy to continue grooming him for a discounted price.
