Bay Ridge Jewish Center in South Brooklyn seeks a PART-TIME CUSTODIAN for general cleaning and maintenance duties. Flexible hours with greater demand around Jewish Holidays. Some evenings/weekends. Job Description: · Upkeep of a large synagogue (sanctuary, office, kitchen, ballroom) with regular cleaning (vacuuming, replenishing restroom supplies, etc.) and repair (changing light bulbs, ensuring heat, AC, plumbing, boiler are working properly, etc.) . You will be expected to regularly maintain our space with minimal supervision and a systematic approach. Responsibilities Include: · Event set up and clean up. . Prepare rooms for meetings. · Operate as door security and greeter for weekly events and Jewish holidays. · Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment. · Maintain equipment in clean, orderly, and functioning condition. · Use hand and power tools in making minor repairs. · Assist in receiving deliveries of supplies and food. · Provide assistance to staff and visitors as necessary. · Check building at beginning and end of shifts. Qualifications : • Previous experience in building cleaning and maintenance work. • Ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. • Ability to relate to officials, staff, and public in a courteous manner. • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing from twenty-five to fifty pounds.
