SURVEY FOR BOATERS TO PROTECT RIGHT WHALES

I am with a small, woman-owned consulting firm that specializes in marine mammal and sea turtle conservation. Large whales, particularly North Atlantic right whales, are in danger from unintentional motorized boat strikes along the United States east coast. In conjunction with NOAA, we are conducting a study to better understand boater knowledge and impressions of programs designed to reduce the likelihood of these collisions by vessels of at least 35 feet. This information will help us to improve the effectiveness of these programs and recognize where additional public outreach is needed.
