James Beard and IACP Award–winning writer discuss his books and food James Beard award-winning author Mayukh Sen will read from his book Taste Makers: Seven Immigrant Women Who Revolutionized Food in America, at this weekend event presented by the Asian American Writers' Workshop and The Amelia Hudson. Taste Makers, named a best book of 2021 by NPR and other outlets, is a "vibrant, empathetic, and dynamic exploration of culture, identity, race, and gender" (Publishers Weekly), and Sen will discuss his dazzling and vital work, alongside culinary and women's history. Following his reading, Sen will be joined in conversation by staff from the Asian American Writers' Workshop, to discuss his creative and journalistic process, current projects, and all things food.
