Description

Bring your 12-17 teen girls for a guided dinner discussion with community leaders and health specialists about how to engage their reality. This is an opportunity for our girls to come together and build relationships through sharing a common meal, identifying common interpersonal needs/problems in community with peers and gleaning from the expertise of leaders also in attendance. Joining us will be: Theresa Baker - Local Promoter and Artist Manager McKenzie Davis - Licensed Therapist Carissa Rodgers - Organizer, Educator and Spiritual Guide Ashley Taylor - Nurse and Girls/Women's Empowerment Advocate The purpose of this program series is to build community capacity, identify the needs and issues our young women are struggling with as well as provide guidance, education, skills an resources to enhance their development while establishing a peer group they can build shared values and culture with. These sessions will happen once monthly to start and increase as the need presents itself. We live in defiance of the labels and systems that have been assigned to us. We live and learn in community together and hold each other accountable for our own healing, growth and transformation. We are the learners who will inherit the Earth in times of transition. We are the alternative tribe that embodies our ability to be creators, light and the best versions of ourselves. WE GET TOGETHER AND BELIEVE IN ONE ANOTHER! The Alternative is the brain child of Carissa Rodgers and Michelle Rushing, who both hold Masters of Divinity Degrees from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. Both have formal Christian ministerial experience but have consciously abandoned religiousity and all associated institutions. They are equally committed to the work of spirituality, healing and transforming the world through empowering each other to heal and be whole.
