MILFORD, MA — A popular public art project first held in 2021 will return to Milford this year — along with a new project to bring some more color to the Upper Charles Trail.
The Milford Cultural Council is bringing back the Brush to Table project this spring. For the project, local artists designed and decorated a series of picnic tables that are now spread at sites across town for public use. The Cultural Council plans to open the 2022 Brush to Table event, which will have a patriotic theme, in March.
For a second public art project, the Cultural Council will invite local artists to design trash cans that will be placed along the Upper Charles Trail. The Council is aiming to install 12 barrels along the four-mile shared use path through town. That project will likely begin in May.
On top of the public art projects, the Cultural Council on Thursday also announced the awarding of some $20,000 in grants to fund 22 local arts and culture projects.
"The Milford Cultural Council is thrilled to have awarded grant funds for programming that willhelp contribute to the cultural vitality of the community," Cultural Council Chair Geri Eddins said in a news release. "Milford residents can look forward to a diverse array of upcoming projects and events that bring art, music, stories, science, and historical appreciation to our community."
Some recipients include the Milford 4th of July Parade, a Brazilian festival and a Christmas concert. You can view the full list of grant recipients here:
