Description

LEESBURG, VA — A trio of teens in Leesburg face charges of filing a false police report, according to the Leesburg Police Department. Police claimed that the teens filed a false report after a self-inflicted stabbing in Leesburg last month. Police in Leesburg were originally looking for a suspect after the stabbing was reported near the intersection of Edwards Ferry Road NE and the Route 15 Bypass on the evening of Jan. 14. Officers were called to the scene after a teenaged male suffered a stab wound to the lower body. The boy was taken by an ambulance to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for his injury. On Jan. 27, police determined that the teen's injury was self-inflicted. At that time, the Leesburg Police Department turned the investigation over to the Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. On Thursday, the police department announced that three teens, two girls and one boy, were each charged with one county of filing a false police report. The teens ranged in age from 13 to 15, authorities said. The police department has not publicly identified the teens due to Virginia laws designed to protect the identities and privacy of minors.
