Although the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has caused event cancellations across the nation, Assisted Living Services, Inc. (ALS), a top-rated homecare agency in Cheshire and Westport, Connecticut, believes that it's never too late to honor exceptional work. Most recently, the family-owned business officially recognized employee caregiver Amos Boateng as the Platinum Caregiver Award winner for the month of June, 2021. The ALS team surprised Boateng with the prestigious honor at his Windsor client's home. In addition to a check for $5,000, Boateng received a beautiful crystal statue and a certificate of merit. "Although each Platinum Caregiver Award presentation is special in its own right, this one is extra fulfilling as Amos has been delivering exceptional care to our elderly clients for the past ten years," said Mario D'Aquila, MBA and Chief Operating Officer of ALS. "There is nothing better than giving back to our employees that exceed their call of duty!" Boateng is currently serving as a live-in homemaker to 88-year-old John Manfreda of Windsor. His daily duties include assisting with home management, personal care, grocery shopping, meal preparation and medication reminders. In addition, Boateng continually monitors Manfreda's safety, while providing companionship. "I love getting to know my clients deeply by listening to their stories and arranging special outings with them," said Boateng. "Whether it be a fishing trip on a lake to TV watching on the living room couch, the connection that is formed with each one is precious and priceless." D'Aquila notes that ALS created the Platinum Caregiver Award program in 2019 as an employee retention initiative. Homecare Pulse, a third-party survey company that measures customer satisfaction, contacts ALS clients at random to rate the services and quality of care that is being provided. Clients and families can acknowledge caregivers who went "above and beyond" when caring for them or their loved one. The caregiver with the highest quality score earns the prestigious and well-deserved recognition for their outstanding work.
