Press release from the City of Johnston: February 10, 2022 Each February, Black History Month, also known as African American History Month, is a national celebration honoring the achievements and contributions of African Americans to the country. Past, present and future, the African American community is vital to Johnston's story.On Tuesday, Feb. 8, Mayor Paula Dierenfeld signed a proclamation declaring February Black History Month. This year's theme is Black Health and Wellness.
