The campaign hit its initial prize-entry cap of 10,000 gauges. Because of their mission to educate and inspire change, Michelin decided to re-run the program, giving more teens the opportunity to take a lifesaving action. Within less than 12 hours after re-launch, the prize-entry cap was maxed out. This means, in less than 48 hours, the #GoldenGauge campaign encouraged 20,000 novice drivers to take a simple step to ensure the safety of them and their loved ones. Car crashes remain a top killer of U.S. teens, with an estimated seven teens dying every day, and hundreds more injured. On average, there are nearly 11,000 tire-related motor vehicle crashes each year. This year's program educated nearly double the amount of drivers for every tire-related motor vehicle crash.
