Press release from the City of Raleigh: Feb 9, 2022 Being a Black, Indigenous, Person of Color (BIPOC) in a predominantly white arts institution has its challenges. Most organizations, even those that strive for equity, do not have cultures that fully recognize and value BIPOC leaders' perspectives and expertise. Join artEquity founder and executive director Carmen Morgan for a conversation with Raleigh equity consultant and curator Michael S. Williams about how BIPOC arts leaders and artists are navigating predominantly white arts institutions and the complex decisions they sometimes face regarding their futures and careers. Carmen Morgan will share learnings and research from her 15 years of equity projects, focus groups and conversations with institutions, artists, staff, and board members, as well as programs like her BIPOC Leadership Circle and Women of Color in Leadership. This special free webinar is a part of the "How We See It" series that is co-produced by Raleigh Arts & Triangle Friends of African American Arts.
