The annual award honors an "outstanding trustee who has contributed significantly to both his/her hospital and to the health care industry." During his time on the DCH board, Colquitt oversaw numerous projects, including the addition of Northport Medical Center and a new cancer center. DCH Health System President and CEO Bryan N. Kindred said Colquitt's training, experience, personality and wisdom have combined to produce a thoughtful trustee who is meticulous about important details. "He has been a tireless advocate for DCH and for the well-being of the West Alabama communities the health system serves," Kindred said. "We are grateful for his service and that the hospital association chose to recognize him for it." Apart from his work with DCH, Judge Colquitt presided from 1971 to 1991 as a circuit judge in the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Alabama and held numerous judicial leadership positions. After retiring from the bench, he became a permanent faculty member at the University of Alabama law school. Have a news tip or suggestion on how I can improve Tuscaloosa Patch?
