Weigh, or measure items that are incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records • Determine method of shipment. Communicate with transportation company to negotiate shipping costs • Maintain clean work area • Maintain all proper safety requirements and safety equipment. • Put shipping labels on packed cartons, packages and boxes • Put together wooden or cardboard boxes and container • Pack up items and put into the boxes and containers • Put tape, metal straps or plastic wrap around boxes to reinforce them before shipping • Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers • Post weights and shipping charges, and put postage on package • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
