Description
Kumo is a very gentle and quiet small lab mix searching for her furrever home! Kumo is cloud in Japanese. before this, she was called "Leeluh" (and before that, i believe her chip was signed up under the name Delilah originally) but our pooch is named Lily and was confused, so we have been calling her Kumo and she became responsive quickly. currently in foster home in Albuquerque. she's 8 months old, probably 35 lb and her paws show she'll likely stay near this size. she comes with a harness, a 16 ft retractable leash, a short 3 ft leash, a collar, a toy, and a crate that needs minor welding and a bottom plate. she's microchipped and we will give you her paper when adopting her. dog friend is a must; not cat, rodent or bird friendly. small rehoming fee applies to ensure she goes to a good home. she gains confidence being with another dog pal, so a home with other GENTLE dog(s) would be preferable. we have not experienced with her with smaller animals around, but her rescuer told us she is NOT cat friendly or bird friendly, so she likely has a high prey drive. this has not shown on walks or anything like that. while she does pull on her leash, she is only probably 35lb and can be trained with someone who has the energy, time, and patience. she is food/snack-motivated. her demeanor is VERY SOFT and quiet, almost cat-like, and she needs a home that meets these needs. if you have dogs who're always outside and barking at ppl, this is NOT your dog. she is very quiet, gentle, and enjoys being indoors. she enjoys closeness, and needs encouragement to get comfortable with her new home and family. my partner and i picked her up as a foster the other day from a woman living in Las Cruces. she was going to send her to the shelter there if not, but really wanted to avoid that since her demeanor is rather skittish and weary of new people. the woman rescued her at 2-3 months old last October; she was tiny, emaciated and her body was full of ticks. the woman nurtured her back to full health. she has not had any ticks since November, and has been bathed many times since, and smells good! she has had her puppy shots. she still needs to be spayed if you want that for her, and her rabies shot. she has been crate-trained by her rescuer. we have not used the crate provided, because it needs some minor welding as well as doesn't have the bottom tray and we don't crate our own pooch, so we've been letting her take time under our bed as her comfy hideaway cave. she appreciates time under the bed to avoid stim and to be by herself. this has been working, and also she's had a couple of accidents in the night that would have probably been avoidable by crating her for bed. she's been having some difficulties going potty outside and feeling confident outside. while she enjoys being in the car, she is afraid of traffic when she's walking so an enclosed yard and quiet streets/trails to walk on would be ideal for her. walking during daylight hours with her dog pals will support her confidence. if you are seriously interested, please confirm you have read her whole bio by beginning your response to this ad with "read." i will refer you back to this post if you ask for additional labor to explain what I've already explained here. she isn't very socialized with people yet, but she does show interest in saying hello to people on walks. she really just needs a family who has patience for her transitioning process and is willing to practice with her. for us, that has looked like giving her space for herself, and also consistently encouraging her with gentle voices, slow movement, and soft pets. and for us, we've been bringing her out from under our bed and closing the bedroom door throughout the day to encourage her sharing common area space with the rest of us. we have a comfy bed of blankets set up for her that she enjoys; she needs a little designated area of her own, and someone who is patient with her and dedicated to bonding and supporting her in building her confidence to reach her fullest happiest puppy potential :+)
