FIREHOUSE CHICAGO Firehouse Chicago is an alarmingly charming event venue in Chicago’s Edgewater Neighborhood. Housed in a 110-year-old classic Chicago firehouse that’s been lovingly renovated, we offer a very special spot for smaller, more intimate weddings, parties, and corporate events. Learn more at NEW JOB OPENING: Part-time Event & Wedding Manager PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Grow the business by growing our reputation as a wonderful venue with very friendly and professional folks. REPORTS: To Event Producer HOURS: 1 to 2 afternoon/evenings per week (averaging 8 to 10 hours each), typically Friday, Saturday or Sunday during peak season (May-October) COMPENSATION: $22/hr, paid every 2 weeks, + occasional shared tips JOB DESCRIPTION (IMMEDIATE): Help manage day-of events, primarily weddings, as listed here: - Manage Furniture Set-Up per Floor Plan (prior to caterer arrival) - Manage Vendors: Drop-offs, set-ups, expectations, needs, etc. - Setup Wedding Studios - Manage Client & Family throughout event - Direct Ceremony, cue Musicians and Officiant, etc. - Manage Wedding Party Processional - Arrange alone time for couple in Wedding Studio (immediately after ceremony) - Oversee “Flips” between stages (reset table, chairs, décor) with focus on guest comfort - Maintain guest and vendor safety - Maintain appropriate noise level inside and out - Oversee “Back of House” operations including: Lock/unlock doors as needed, stock/maintain bathrooms, adjust lighting/heat/AC as needed, maintain garbage/recycling and cleanup, sweeping, mopping, as needed - Manage Décor Strike (conclusion of event) - Reset Wedding Studio & Event Spaces - Maintain proper lock up, thermostat set, and security alarm JOB DESCRIPTION (POTENTIAL): During busy prime-time season, possibly handle some pre-event duties: - Conduct Site Visits (1-2 hours) with potential clients (clearly explain flow of events, explain history of firehouse, show photos from past including garden in summer, show sample floor plans, encourage them to hold a date, etc.) - Conduct Follow-up Meeting (1-2 hours) (discuss vision, give vendor recommendations, and gather info for Run of Show Document) - Conduct any additional visits: Vendors, family, décor inspiration, etc. - Coordinate Vendors: Drop-offs, set-ups, expectations, needs, etc. - Manage schedules for: cleaning, parking lot, and event set-up specialists REQUIREMENTS: - Strong communication skills - Positive attitude, naturally upbeat, outgoing, and friendly - Treat your fellow humans with respect and honesty - Strong passion for making clients happy - Weekend and evening availability - Reliable transportation - Able to be on feet for up to 12 hours - Able to help lift and move items such as tables, barrels, tent, etc. - Able to climb up and down a 10’ ladder to setup/strike décor - Able to move quickly to lock/unlock doors as needed - Comfortable operating propane tanks for heaters - Comfortable with basic electric needs, such as change lightbulbs, control light board, reset circuit breakers, run cords for outdoor lights or coffee stations, etc. - Comfortable being alone in the building at night to close up - Belief that no job is beneath you - Comfortable with dogs as we are a “dog-friendly venue” ☺ - Follow all CDC, Illinois, and Chicago guidelines for Covid 19 protocols HOW TO APPLY IMPORTANT NOTE: To be considered for the position, you must do both of the next listed steps - Send cover letter and resume to this posting or to jobs(at symbol)firehousechicago.com - Introduce yourself on our special jobs call line ‪(773) 217-0688.‬‬‬ Please leave a voice message of up to 3 minutes to tell us: 1) Your relevant work history, 2) How you’d be of particular value to Firehouse Chicago, and 3) How this position could benefit to you.‬ Any questions you may have should be submitted in writing to jobs(at symbol)firehousechicago.com Please do not call the main line and do not send email to the main address for Firehouse Chicago (those are reserved for client inquiries).
