Description
Interested in contributing to the scientific knowledge on pain and stress? Help Boston Children’s Hospital researchers learn how pain and stress interact in the brain!
Youth between the ages of 11-17 who are able to read surveys in English, with a history of chronic widespread pain unrelated to a primary disease process, and are right-handed may be able to participate!
Participants will be asked to collect 12 saliva samples at home over two days before the baseline and a 4-month follow-up study visit. Both study visits can be scheduled in conjunction with any unrelated medical visit to Boston Children’s Hospital or separately as is convenient.
Researchers will also take some physical measurements (e.g., weight, height, blood pressure) during your study visit. Participants will also undergo a one-hour non-invasive brain scan (fMRI) with temperature sensitivity testing. You will be asked to fill out various questionnaires related to mood, anxiety, sleep, and stressful events you may have experienced.
As a thank you for your participation, you will receive a $100 gift card for completion of baseline procedures and an additional $25 for completion of follow-up study procedures.
If you're interested, please send us an email with the email in the contact info, and one of our researchers will reach out to you!
