Coronvirus Forces Nassau Country Club To Lay Off Hundreds

WOODBURY, NY—Many Long Island businesses, big and small, continue to feel the financial strain caused by the new coronavirus. Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury is the latest business to take an economic hit. "We have all been affected by this health crisis," the country club said in a recent social media post. According to the New York State Department of Labor, the country club temporarily laid off 287 employees recently due to "unforeseeable business circumstances prompted by COVID-19." The employees are not represented by a union. It's not clear how many people remain on staff or what positions were affected. However, in a March 27 Facebook post, the country club said its sales staff continues to work from home to help flatten the curve and minimize the spread of the virus. "We are here to assist you in rescheduling your event or provide information on planning a future event," the country club posted online.
