WOODBURY, NY — The Crest Hollow Country Club has temporarily laid off 24 more workers because of the new coronavirus pandemic. The club is one of many Long Island businesses to announce mass layoffs. Crest Hollow already reported 287 layoffs in March. Now, a total of 311 former club employees are without work due to "unforeseeable business circumstances prompted by COVID-19," according to the New York Department of Labor. The employees are not represented by a union and it is unclear what positions they had at the country club. In a March 27 Facebook post, Crest Hollow Country Club said that sales staff were working from home to abide by social distancing and reassuring clients they could reschedule events or get information on booking future ones. "We have all be affected by this health crisis," the club said.
