Description

JERICHO, NY — A pickup truck crashed Monday morning on the Long Island Expressway in Jericho, coming to a rest on a guardrail and causing delays for the morning commute. Around 7 a.m. Monday, the Jericho Volunteer Fire Department was sent to the wreck on the South Service Road to the westbound lanes of the expressway, along with a Syosset Volunteer Fire Department duel-response engine, Nassau County police highway patrol officers and emergency ambulance team. The truck driver refused medical attention at the scene after hitting the guard rail, officials said. The truck's fuel tank ruptured, spilling gasoline onto the roadway. Firefighters treated the spill with a speedy-dry solution and plugged the hole in the tank. One lane on the expressway and service road was closed. Below are photos from the crash.
