SYOSSET, NY – Long Island University Post will reopen for in-person instruction on Nov. 1 after going fully remote following a spate of coronavirus cases. In an announcement on Oct. 14, the university announced it would be going fully remote for two weeks "out of an abundance of caution." According to the university's coronavirus update page, there have been there have been 67 coronavirus cases over the past two weeks on the Brookville campus, and three new cases reported on Friday. LIU president Kimberly Cline released a letter to faculty and students Thursday, announcing the in-person reopening update, Newsday reported. Cline said there will be increased safety measures, including surveillance testing of up to 20 percent of the student body and staff each week, tests of the wastewater for signs of the virus and spot temperature checks on campus. According to Newsday, Cline defended the school's protocols as being in line with state guidelines, and said LIU was working with the county health department to "evaluate and enhance our protocols."
